Pennsylvania Methadone Clinic in Landmark Negligence Case

A landmark court ruling in Blair County, Pennsylvania has stated that a methadone clinic may be found liable of corporate negligence in the wrongful death of a patient. According to the lawsuit, Crystal M. Ickes had received methadone treatment at the Alliance Medical Services and was allowed to leave in an overly sedated state.

Subsequently, Miss Ickes either suffered a seizure or fell asleep at the wheel, running off the road, striking on oncoming car.  According to the lawsuit, the car accident resulted in her death and permanent neurological and brain damage to the other driver. The court ruling sets the stage for other Pennsylvania personal injury lawyers to pursue similar cases going forward.

                            

Dallas Nursing Home Choking Lawsuit Settled

The family of a man with Lou Gehrig’s disease have settled a lawsuit against a nursing home for wrongful death in a choking incident. The family of Luke Warman settled the litigation against the Lakeside Nursing Center for $250,000.

Warman, because of his disease was supposed to be on an all liquid diet because he had problems swallowing. The lawsuit had claimed that a speech therapist had given Mr. Warman a small amount of food on which he choked and died.

Georgia Lawsuit Filed Against Mentor Corporation

Two women in Georgia have filed a personal injury lawsuit against the Mentor Corporation. Mentor manufacturers a product called obTape vaginal slings.

According to the lawsuit, the product not only failed to cure urinary stress incontinence, but also caused multiple surgeries to be performed on the women. Lesions, discomfort and bleeding were reported as a result of using the product. The women’s Georgia personal injury lawyers have filed the lawsuit with the Athens Clarke County Superior Court.

Hawaii Says No Sonar for Navy

In Hawaii, a judge has told the Navy to stop using sonar off its shores. According to environmentalists, the sonar has a negative impact on the whale population because of the intense sound waves.

The Hawaii personal injury lawyers who practice environmental law have argued that the sonar sound waves are so intense that they actually are able to kill whales. The Natural Resources Defense Council and EarthJustice has brought forth the case that has received an injunction by the judge in the case.

Frozen Turkeys Recalled in Arizona

Frozen turkey products are being recalled in Arizona. Ian's Natural Foods based out of Massachusetts is recalled 13,000 pounds of turkey products because they contain non-fat milk which is a known allergen.

The allergen was not declared on the labels of the products. So, far no injuries or health problems have been reported, but if this is indeed the case, expect the Arizona personal injury lawyers to get active in this area.

China has had a rash of faulty and fraudulent products recently prompting the product liability attorneys in the U. S. to take notice. First there was the tainted pet food.
